About Washed Mottles

These designs are done with dipping the whole backdrop in acrylic paint solution of the desired colour instead of dye and it’s a cold water solution and a totally cold process. Then these are exposed flat to sunlight for slow process of drying, whereby color gets darker on exposed surface and lighter the surface below. Develops to a flat solid colour backdrop. After drying, it’s put through or ‘washed’ in an enzyme solution to develop the ‘washed’ texture on the flat solid colour. The other side a just the lighter version of the design and can be used as a different backdrop altogether.
